The Alfa Laval LabUnit M37/38 is a fully integrated plate-and-frame system for ultrafiltration and microfiltration membrane processes. The module of this unit utilizes the same support plates and membranes as our full-scale membrane filtration modules. This makes the Alfa Laval LabUnit M37/38 a flexible tool for process development, up-scaling, membrane testing, quality assurance and small-scale production. The Alfa Laval LabUnit M37/38 can be fitted with our full range of flat sheet membranes for ultrafiltration and microfiltration. The flow pattern is similar to that in larger systems which makes it easier to scale up and test our filtration equipment. The unit can be connected to the by-pass stream of an industrial plant. All components comply with FDA regulations, allowing use within food and pharmaceutical processing applications. Choice of plate sets The Alfa Laval LabUnit M37/38 has a number of plate sets with different channel heights to optimize flow and pressure:
M37 plate set For high viscosity liquids
M38H plate set High channel, for medium viscosity liquids
M38L plate set Low channel, for low viscosity liquids
Option The Alfa Laval LabStakTM M37/38 module installed in the Alfa Laval LabUnit M37/38 is also available as a separate test module for the same applications as the Alfa Laval LabUnit M37/38, and with the same distinct properties. Flow diagram of typical installation The Alfa Laval PilotUnit Multi comes as a skid-mounted unit and includes all necessary instruments, equipment and prefabricated piping ready for operation. All you need to do is to install and connect to the product feed, utilities and the power supply. The product enters the tank via the feed valve (with level control). It is then pumped to the membrane filtration stage where the system automatically adjusts the pump speed and maintains the required cross-flow rate to reduce fouling and ensure the smooth concentration of your product. The operator can adjust the controllers from the MemProC® PLC-based control system which includes a data logging system for the unit transmitters. The data can be downloaded to a USB. . .
